Well, I believe it has been about six months since I first saw a blue SMP and had a very, very strong desire to buy it.
Since then I bought a different watch, considered models from both Oris and Tudor, got together the necessary funds for an upscale watch, and went through the buying process.
While I also debated Quartz vs. Auto, in my heart I really wanted the auto. There is something about all of those gears moving around in my watch without outside power, that puts a smile on my face. Also, there is very little second hand market for Quartz, at least as far I can tell.
In the end I bought a 3 year old SMP in awesome condition from an ad on Timezone.com. The cost was $850- although the seller could have gotten $900. It is very hard to tell that the watch was used at all.
Thank you to the members here who were kind enough to look at the scans for authenticity.
So I am thrilled, the watch looks just awesome, and I am really loving that it is the auto version. I unscrewed the crown, wound the watch, set it, and it is just plunking along!
I am completely satisfied. 100%.
Hmmmmm. How much to acquire a used Speedmaster.....?
:-D
Thanks,
Al
