SMP Quartz quickset question?

I was at a dealer today looking at the SMP, and the quickset on the auto works as one would expect a quickset to work; however, on the quartz model, to advance the date, I had to turn the hour hand past 12 two times to advance it a day?

Of course the sales lady knew nothing?

Is this normal, or was I looking at an old model?
