serial# vs model *LINK*

Hi guys hoping to pick your brains and hoping not to confirm my fears.

I recently acquired a Seamaster Professional model # 2551.80.00, (at least in appearance) preowned. The serial # starts 4971..... According to Chuck Maddox website (see link) this would inticate it was made in the late eighties. However I think this model did not come into production until 1993? Am i correct. All else appears to be correct on the watch, none of the usual signs that its a (hate to say it) fake.

any ideas,

also you may of seen in a previous post there is a star on the opposite lug from the serial number.

thanks
