: I've been debating with myself upon whether an
: automatic Seamaster is better than a Quartz,
: and vice-versa. I've come to the conclusion
: that an automatic it better because it gives
: you that more genuine Swiss Made feeling,
: while a watch with a battery in it looka
: like a Swiss watch on the outside, but to
: you it feels like a cheap Casio that you can
: get a the drug store for $19.99. I'm sure
: there are more people who feel like this on
: this forum, and those who are opposed, so
: I'm making a poll on what you guys think is
: better: an automatic Seamaster, or a quartz
: Seamaster...
My gut feeling is that those who buy a watch with their hearts will always buy an auto; those who buy with their heads will go quartz.
I've owned the quartz SM Pro for a couple of years now and love it. It's beautiful, rugged, and unlike its mechanical counterpart, accurate to ±2 secs PER MONTH. The price difference was what initially swayed me in the quartz direction but, being a Bond purist, I also wanted to own the _original_ 007 Seamaster. The quartz movement also has one feature over the auto I couldn't live without. I travel a lot and find the ability to change the hour without stopping the watch to be a boon.
Bottom line, you have a choice, but if I had to replace mine, it would be with another quartz.
