It ran fast for another 45 secs overnight.
I decided I had enough and sent it for a check up at the authorized service centre.

They couldn't find anything wrong but the guy did warn me abt magnetic fields - mobile phones, TVs, and the like. It suddenly dawned on me that I had been placing my watch next to my mobile phone the past few nights!

I think Omega should update their owners manual - it currently lists speakers or refrigerators as things to avoid!

What abt airport scanners? x-ray scanners? or those that the guy asks you to spread yr arms and he passes a metallic detector over you? or when you cross into a booth that has a metallic sensor?

Will these affect mechanical watches too?
If so, it's high time, watch manufacturers do something abt better protection against magnetic fields.

: Mechanical watches are NOT as consistent in
: their timing. This is because their
: performance is affected by external factors,
: like position, gravity, tightness of spring,
: etc..

: Often, they will gain during parts of the day
: and lose in others -- averaging out to a
: good performance. But attempting to measure
: accuracy over short periods of time is not
: going to give you good information.

: As long as your watch has a good average over a
: period of a week, it is perfectly normal and
: fine.
