: I have had a Bond full-size auto for 3 years
: now, and I never got used to the bond-style
: bracelet. (I am one of those unlucky few who
: are "between" sizes.)
Two things. One, have you adjusted the bracelet sizing using the half links? Some people don't even notice there are half links in the bracelet.
The other is to err on the side of slightly loose. That is easier to get used to than too tight.
: I suspect the difference lies in the fact that
: it is **tapered**.
Actually, I believe the real difference which causes it to be harder to adjust 'right' is that the SMP bracelet is solid -- therefore a lot heavier. So it is not so much the shape, but simply they this is one of the heaviest watch bracelets out there. That alone makes it inherently less comfortable.
: Question: Is there a suitable Omega bracelet
: (preferably tapered) that I can swap for the
: Bond ?
A big thing you need to know is that replacement OMEGA bracelets cost around $400! You may find used ones in the $200-250 range. Best would be someone who is willing to swap bracelets with you. You could post a Want-To-Trade on our ChronoTrader forum for that.
The only other OMEGA metal bracelets that would fit your full-size Bond SMP are those for watches that use the same case body:
: I was going to try a Speedy bracelet, but a
: couple of sources advised the Speedy isn't
: tapered either.
A Speedmaster bracelet will NOT fit your watch because the end pieces are curved to fit a different case shape.
: I love the watch, but it just never gets any
: wrist time, on account of the bracelet.
You can also change over to a strap. Though the blue Bond SMP is rather hard to find a good strap color to match. Some people like the blue rubber strap OMEGA makes for the SMP. Blue alligator or shark straps work well with it too.
Good luck!
