by simply stating the facts. First of all, Keith is absolutley right. "Brick and mortar" authorized dealers may have websites, but they can't sell watches over the internet.
As for people selling watches on the net, many people on this forum have been very satisfied with some of the more reputable "gray market" dealers. These are the larger internet dealers who offer their own warranties as opposed to Omega factory warranties. These people aren't ripping anyone off, they're simply selling genuine Omega watches at reasonable discounts but NOT providing the security of a factory warranty.
Lastly, there are some con artists/thieves/scum (you choose what to call them) who sell fakes on sites such as ebay. While there are certainly some reputable gray market dealers and private parties who sell on ebay, there are also those who simply can't be trusted. That's why you have to do your homework and "know before you buy." If not, you may very well get ripped off.
My own feeling is that the best way to buy an Omega watch is from an authorized retailer who offers substantial discounts. By doing this, you'll pay about the same as what you'd pay a reputable gray market dealer, but you'll be backed by Omega's factory warranty.
