Read the articles on Water Resistance in the OWNERS ZONE here on Chronocentric. You have a few misconceptions that need to be cleared up -- especially about what the helium valve is actually for.
While you sould certainly use a dive watch for what it is intended for... the other side of the coin is what $ risk you are taking using a $1800 watch when a $180 dive watch would do the same or more into a situation where it might get damaged.
