They are not "made" by the same company at all. Those two brands started as, and are still mostly run as separate companies -- they just happen to be now owned by the same parent company.
Same as how Mercedes Benz, Dodge and Jeep are now all divisions of DaimlerChrysler or how Jaguar, Aston Martin and Mazda are now divisons of Ford. That does not mean the products of the various sub-companies are near equal or in any way made in parallel or identical.
Each sub-company designs and manufacturers their products separately, with different standards, objectives, price anges, levels of perceived prestige and target markets.
So you really have to evaluate each brand totally separately and pay virtually no attention to who their parent companies are.
