Re: Speedmaster crystal
In Response To: Re: Speedmaster crystal ()

: The hesalite crystal is made of an acrylic
: polymer (plastic), so it is far less
: resistant to scratches than a sapphire
: crystal. Its only benefit is that it won't
: shatter under extreme stress (shock) the way
: a sapphire crystal can. In real life,
: though, this isn't a practical concern.

: My personal opinion is that sapphire crystals
: are far more practical since it is all but
: impossible to scratch them. Granted, the
: hesalite crystal can easily be buffed to
: remove scratches and is relatively cheap to
: replace if necessary, but on a watch costing
: several thousand dollars I want something
: better than a cheap plastic crystal.

John are you aware if the hesalite crystal can be exchanged for a sapphire crystal? If I had a larger wrist I would purchase the full size with the sapphire crystal however the reduced size is a perfect fit for me.
