Re: Omega/Rolex wars?
In Response To: Re: Omega/Rolex wars? ()

Spent some time looking at watches today...

The 36in steel faced AC is a beut. I love the white face Omega GMT.

I could prob get both for the price of one rolex explorer2. I want that Rolex but am trying to fight the urge to get one.

Got several complements on my smp in the last few weeks. One from a guy who is looking to buy a watch. He said he looked at a Bret, Omega, and Rolex. Said he wouldn't get Rolex because of the "check me out I'm a rich a-hole" factor that comes with the watch. Hearing people say things like that always makes it a bit easier to stay away from the Rolex counter.

: Had a recent experience visiting an Atlanta
: jewelry store. When I asked if they carried
: Omega, the salesperson responded by saying
: "No" they didn't, but that they
: carried Rolex. When I stated I was looking
: for an Omega dealer, they stated they didn't
: know where one was. Their tone was that same
: Rolex snobbery that the previous writer
: described. Interestingly enough, less then
: 500 meters down the road were three Omega
: dealers in one mall. I recommend the
: Tourneau shop, if you've never been to one.
: The largest collection of Omegas and other
: great Swiss watches I've ever seen. I
: thought I had died and gone to heaven. My
: SMP is two years old and I like it more
: today then when my wife bought it for me.
: Problem is that I have a tough time finding
: any other watches with the same quality
: case, bracelet, clasp, crystal, etc.
