Re: I'd like to be able to design my own

I think that you could ideally customize a watch, as long as the customization is done by Omega in-house and the customization is only cosmetic, IMHO. Omega already produces high-quality mechanics; why mess with that aspect? I compare it to customizing your car at the dealership or before it leaves the factory, to ensure the quality and its workmanship. You can install the greatest interior and luxury electronics (stereo and non-essential gadgetry) and still have a great working vehicle that maintains the factory standards. But the minute you mess with the engine, you open yourself up to potential problems. For example, I purchased aftermarket rims and tires for my truck and it never drove the same. It looked great, but the drive was definitely different. I re-installed the factory tires and rims and the drive was much improved. Just my two cents....

: I think that's a really bad idea--first of all,
: its an open invitation for fakes and
: replicas since only you and omega would be
: able to tell whether its real. And secondly,
: come on people, omega has so many design
: variations as it is, I'm sure everyone can
: find something that they like--why
: introducing chaos?
