Judging from this Australian piece, $3,700 USD before taxes, etc. Twice the price of a Seamaster is not my cup of tea... no thank you.

Omega brings two world sporting greats together
By: Carmine Pascuzzi
It was a meeting of two great sporting minds.
OMEGA ambassadors Michael Schumacher and Ian Thorpe presented each other with exclusive OMEGA timepieces in recognition of their history making achievements. Two of the world’s best ever athletes were brought together for the first time internationally by OMEGA, the internationally renowned Swiss watch brand, who united Thorpe and Schumacher at the recent 2005 Formula One Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Michael Schumacher presented his own OMEGA Speedmaster ‘The Legend’ timepiece to Ian Thorpe, and Thorpe present Schumacher with the yet-to-be-released OMEGA Planet Ocean, a new professional diving watch that the swim star will represent for the brand worldwide. Thorpe said, “It was great to meet Michael and see the Ferrari garage and team at work. I admire Michael’s athleticism enormously.”
Michael Schumacher, Formula One’s reigning world champion, has been an OMEGA ambassador since 1996 and has seven world championship titles under his belt. He is also an avid watch fan and owns numerous OMEGA timepieces. Ian Thorpe has been an OMEGA ambassador since 1997, when he was first awarded an Olympic 2000 scholarship by the brand. Thorpe has since become the international face of the OMEGA Seamaster Professional Diving range.
Mark Watson, Managing Director for OMEGA said, “Michael and Ian are sporting icons and first-class ambassadors for OMEGA. Both were genuinely thrilled to meet one another.”
The Seamaster Planet Ocean watch is available with a new brushed stainless-steel bracelet with polished sides and a foldover safety clasp. The new bracelet has subtly curved links that immediately catch the eye and offer excellent comfort for the wearer. Black rubber straps available on all models offer a sporty and equally robust alternative, whilst matching alligator leather straps (orange with the orange bezel, dark brown with the black bezel) give the watch an entirely different look for the more fashion conscious.
One of the most important new models for Omega in 2005, and a hot contender as one of the Basel Fair's star pieces, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean will be available at official Omega retailers worldwide from May this year.
Recommended Retail Price is from $4,675 - $4,800.
The limited edition Speedmaster model, dedicated to Michael Schumacher, bears subtle traces of Ferrari's and OMEGA's signature red and a highly distinctive dial. It is a fitting tribute to OMEGA's very own master of speed.
The latest commemorative limited-edition model has a 38.8mm stainless steel case and a brushed-steel bezel engraved with the Speedmaster's characteristic tachymeter scale. Production of this model is limited to 6000, available exclusively with a matching stainless-steel bracelet with pushbutton-operated fold over clasp.
Recommended Retail Price is from $5,625 and is available from mid-March
