New Seamaster watch, but made long ago!

Hello, I just got back from San Juan Puerto Rico where I purchased the Omega Seamaster Professional 2531.80.00 (the Bond watch). I got it from the only authorized dealer there, who had just got the watch in a few days ago. I called Omega and checked the watch reference #, and they said that the watch was legitimate, the dealer did just purchase the watch from Omega, but the watch was actually assembled in 1993!! Has anyone heard of such a long lag on Omega watches being purchased and sold? The woman at Omega said it was common, but I have a hard time believing it. Let me know your thoughts
