No. Water/moisture will NOT escape through that valve. You need to take it to a watch repair shop to be properly dried out.
As a quick alternative, take a small glass jar and fill half way with dry uncooked rice. Open the crown and place the watch crown-up on top of the rice and close the jar. This should help draw the moisture out. Be careful to not get dust from the rice into the open crown.
