Re: Just purchased an Omega Seamaster!!!

Congratulations!!!! I got my first Omega about 9 months ago so I know how you feel!!

I'm no expert, but I'll attempt to answer as best as I can.

: 1). The bracelet sizing, should it be sized to
: allow your index finger to slip between the
: gap near the clasp and the wrist or should
: it be smaller?

My bracelet is sized so I can fit my index finger in, perhaps even a little looser than this. When I first got my watch it was tigher than this, and on hot days (when the skinned expanded a little) I found it too tight and it was making my wrist ache.

: 2). Should the crown be screwed until its tight
: or just when it stops screwing in when using
: a slight twist?

I screw the crown down until its finger tight, and then just a fraction more. Too much over tightening I think would do more harm than good. It's the thread and not the tightness that makes the seal.

: 3). What positions do you need to use to get
: the -4 +6 specifications?

Wearing the watch should keep it in the -4 +6 spec. Whilst the position you leave it in overnight will affect it, it shouldn't go outside this spec. When I first got my watch is was about +3 seconds a day, but its now settled down to about +1 seconds a day.

: 4). Do you need to change the date if a month
: has 30 days?

Yes, date changes are required for any month with less than 31 days. Don't worry about forgetting to do it, you'll get so used to it that you'll find yourself doing it automatically

: I know simple questions but your help is muchly
: appreciated.

No problem

: Oh yeah it feels great to own a Swiss Watch the
: quality is really there when you look at it.

Yes, such quality means you should get many years of pleasure out of your watch. Enjoy iy!!!

Cheers, Darren
