Grey market Dealers

Please help me understand the "Grey Market"

There are a very many more grey market dealers than authorized ones.
If they are selling authentic watches, where are they getting them in such numbers? Obviously, at some point these watches left the Omega factory en route to an Omega authorized distributor.

Clearly, somewhere in the chain between the factory and consumer, there are factory authorized retailers or distributors who are dumping a large number of watches onto the grey market.

Why does Omega not try and find out who (they must have records of who they sell to, and can see that certain distributors are buying more from the factory then they are reseller to retailers) they are and close them down??

I'm guessing Omega really cares very little for the end consumer, and more about their bottom line.

Now, before you jump on me for "bashing" Omega, I do own three, and like them very much. I just wish Omega would do more to protect their name.

There are far fewer grey market Rolex dealers out there!
