: The price between the 300M Auto Seamster and
: Co-Axial GMT is about $1K. Functionally, how
: justifiable is the price just to get the
: co-ax feature?
The retail price difference is actually $1400. For that you get the GMT function, a sapphire display back, nicer applied hour markers, and the co-axial movement. All of these features add cost to the watch.
I own three Omegas, and the one with the co-axial movement keeps the best time BY FAR. In fact, it keeps better time than my Swatch quartz watch. So, I am biased toward the co-axial movement and feel it is worth the money. All current Omega co-axial models come with a 3-year warranty (instead of the standard 2) and the co-axial movement requires less frequent servicing (every 10 years rather than every 5). It is designed for better long term accuracy than the 1120 movements in the SMP 300M watches.
