: I had the same dilemma as you last year trying to decide between the quartz and the auto. I finally chose the quartz and have been absolutley delighted with it since, it can be left off for days and you can put it straight back on your wrist without resetting etc, you don`t have to worry too much if you drop it etc it doesn`t seem to make any difference, there is less damage to the seals on a quartz as you don`t have to keep resetting it if you don`t wear it for a couple of days.
The bracelet ids quite easily scratched but my Omega dealer will refurbish the watch to new condition for £15.00 approx $28.
I originally went to the jewllers to buy a Breitling colt superocean but when I compared it to the Seamaster it looked really tacky, the seamaster had a much better finish.
The Smp is a great watch...whatever you buy ...enjoy.
