I kind of got lucky because I have one of those wrists where I was able to fit my bracelet (SMP 2255.80) "just right" by leaving the half link in and removing two full ones. However, it is much better to wear it a half link on the large size if this is your only option, in my opinion. I used to be in the retail jewelry business and I believe your dealer gave you bad advise regarding the bracelet.
