Sounds like your statement on him is correct.
I have repaired this watch for many years when I worked at SSIH Eastleigh in UK. You have a watch (cal 1325) that is not that difficult to do but can have a few hidden problems like the IC having dry joints the setting motor not spinning correctly none of which will be in the service manual..

The watch it self you will find is running out of parts so if a new part is needed you may find that sending it to swatch is the best way or find a watch repairer that has access to the correct parts (hard to find).

Does the watch go at all if so for how long. Does the date change when you turn the hour hand? The 2 question will help to give you the answer to what is wrong with your watch. If the date does not change then the watch is stopping in the date work if the minute hand does not move at all the problem is in the circuit or stepping motor. If it goes for a short time the problem is in the train
