Re: Engraving Stopped My SMP !?
In Response To: Engraving Stopped My SMP !? ()

While automatic watches are precison instruments, they aren't fragile like glass. Playing golf with it is not going to harm the watch, nor would engraving it provided such engraving was done properly. It is water resistant to 300 meters, so dive and swim with it all you want!!!

Omega will invalidate the warranty if you or an incompetent watchmaker tampered with the actual watch and ruined it in the process. Since you are not sending it back for warranty repair on the caseback, the engraving alone will not invalidate the warranty. HOWEVER, it seems very suspicious to me that your watch stopped running right after this engraving was done. If, for example, your engraver applied excessive pressure that caused an internal part to be knocked out of alignment, this could result in your having to pay out of pocket for the repairs.

Obviously it's impossible to diagnose a watch's problem via the internet, but Omega realizes that engraving watches is a common practice and will not invalidate your warranty for this reason alone.
