I would say you are on the ball. We would always say that a watch should be serviced every 3-5 years.

If you are not sending to Omega make sure the watchmaker you chose has what it takes a good way is to ask what companies has he worked for and also what companies recognize him for spares IE Rolex, Zenith Cartier, This will give you some idea of his expertise as these companies do not supply parts to everyone only those who have been trained by them.
