: Do you suggest sending it to Omega or someone
: else? I live in Atlanta. Any idea how much
: Omega would cahrge to overhaul it?

You can send it to Omega USA in Secaucus, NJ or to their headquarters in Bienne, Switzerland. It will cost a lot more in shipping to go to Switzerland, but some people say that's the best place to have your watch serviced. The NJ facility is the only US Omega authorized service center. Unless you personally know a superb watchmaker with lots of experience repairing high-end watches, I wouldn't let anyone other than Omega touch your watch.

As for cost, a routine servicing costs in the $150-$200 range. This includes taking the watch apart and cleaning it, replacing all the gaskets, polishing the watch and bracelet so they look like new, pressure-testing it to make sure it is water-tight, and, in your case, replacing the battery. However, you can expect to pay more for a new dial and for the replacement of any other damaged parts (if any). Omega will e-mail you a quote prior to beginning any work once they receive the watch.

You can find the service center addresses and phone numbers on Omega's website at www.omega.ch.
