No, the warranty only covers manufacturing defects in the watch. The fact that it became magnetized is not a defect and thus would not be covered under warranty.

It's relatively easy for a COMPETENT watchmaker to demagnetize a watch. If you have a local watchmaker who you know has a lot of experience working with high-end watches, I would speak to him first. If not, then, yes, I would send it to Bienne. I would NOT let just any jeweler touch the watch, since they may end up doing even more damage and giving you an even higher repair bill from Omega. Better to be safe than sorry.
