Re: about breitling movements
In Response To: about breitling movements ()

: No Breitling doesn't really improve movments
: like Omega does. Omega on its 1120 caliber
: (eta 2892-2 base) adds to 2 jewels and
: improves the winding sytem. The Breitling
: cal 21 (base eta 2892-2) has just Breitling
: engraved on the rotor,a better balance
: wheel, cosc certification and that is all.
: You pay just marketing when buying Breitling
: not really quality as compared to Omega.
: The new Omega 3303 is an innovation made by
: Frederic Piguet alongwith Omega. Breitling
: doesn't play in the same ground than Omega.

Actually, if you watch the video on Breitling's website, you'll see that their caliber 13 movement used in the Chronomat is a VERY heavily modified ETA movement. I agree that Omega's co-axial movement is superb and I do happen to prefer Omega watches, but to say that Breitling "doesn't play in the same ground as Omega" is a bit harsh. Even the founder of this website (rest his soul) placed Omega, Rolex, and Breitling in the same category. I have found that my Breitling keeps superb time, as do my Omegas. Also, Breitling's prices and dealer discounts fall into the same range as Omega (not so with Rolex, obviously), so I believe they are both quality brands that give you a good watch for the money. That being said, I still prefer my Omegas.....
