Re: Uneven Chronograph Tick
In Response To: Re: Uneven Chronograph Tick ()

This was the response back from Omega UK. I think I'll go along to a dealer and see what they think.

Dear Mr Thomas

We are writing to you with reference to your e-mail of 2nd August regarding your Omega Seamaster watch.

We can advise that the "uneven tick" is due to the sweep seconds hand having a friction spring that would appear to have been adjusted marginally. Normally the second hand would have a very slight hesitance but under slight shocks, would "jump", hesitate and then continue. If it continually "jumps" (mostly under gravity) then the spring needs adjustment. The sweep chrono hand is a wheel driven from the movement wheel train and can exhibit this phenomenon, most conventional watches with sweep seconds hands cannot exhibit this due to the seconds hand being directly attached to the wheel train.

We trust the above information will be helpful to you, but please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

Yours sincerely
