Ater it's assembled, it's all "one piece" but it's not made from one piece of metal. The painted ones are aluminum because the anodizing process creates a very rreliable bond between paint and the aluminum -- with steel, the paint will come off more easily.

Unfortunately, Omega does not sell the insert separately; only the entire bezel (I bought one Omega in Canada and it cost me $150 Cdn before tax -- that's about $123 USD.)
