My first suggestion is to find a different dealer. The one you spoke with obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. As to being fragile, have him give NASA a call. As to scratching or breaking the glass, I assume you mean the crystal covering the dial. The traditional Speedy Pro comes with the hesalite that will scratch but would be difficult to break. Scratches are easily buffed out and the cost to replace is minimal. I would not swim with either one but water is not a problem otherwise.

I advise against the reduced. The Speedmaster Pro does not wear that large on the wrist.

My Speedies are everyday wearers. One is 40 years old and the other is almost 10. I hope my grandson will wear the older one to the moon or even to Mars some day.
