: Thanks William and to the others for input. I
: like the idea of an inhouse movement,
: however, I have heard that Rolex imports
: many of the components of its movements.
: Given that Omega and ETA are both owned by
: Swatch, is it drawing a long bow to say that
: the SMP then is inhouse (I know technically
: it is not)?

It would be totally improper to ever refer to the 1120 movement in the SMP as "in house", since it is based on an existing ETA movement. However, Omega modifies it so heavily that it really is an "Omega only" movement. I'm not sure that clarifies anything but it's the best answer I can give.

: Is the SMP movement a good quality movement for
: the long term if well tretaed and serviced?

Based on a lot of reading I have done over the past few weeks, I can find NOTHING that would indicate the 1120 movement in the SMP would be prone to a short lifespan. In fact, if serviced regularly, it seems clear that this watch could easily last a lifetime.
