However, I have buy real great occasion on ebay... some pieces of my collection was checked by an Omega dealer and he was very surprised for the pieces...
Also, I must to agree that some pieces with wrong parts or assembled parts are very difficult to avoid now, buying on ebay is like a risk, you have to risk and have good luck, it is no possible to check the watch, it is no possible to know if the watch have original parts or not (tell me, who are able to see a picture on the internet and really understand if a watch is totally pristine? Nobody).
Also, is possible to find vintage watch via dealer or watchmaker that is reassembled or not correct but sell as "perfect".
An Example:
I have buy a 145.012-67 from a very famous established 1898 dealer in italy and I've payed 2500USD.
The watch is coming to me in a good box, with six months guarantee and a paper where the dealer declare the total originality of the watch, but:
1. the hands was NEW replaced but not correct (so you have old dial and NEW hands: bleaaahhh!)
2. the chrono functions are not good.
3. the tachimeter bezel is the NEW type (very bad on a 145.012-67, you know?)
What is happened? Where is the professional of a dealer? Why he do not tell to me that the watch is not totally "original" but made with "original but no correct" parts?
Listen to this:
I have buy on ebay from a South Italy seller a 145022-69 very nice, with the caseback of first version moonwatch, the watch is fantastic and runs very well.
The Omega dealer that has checked the watch offer me 2000USD (I've paid 1200USD)!!!
I'm tired to read about tath ebay is not sure: Also watchmaker, dealer and seller are like some ebayer, thay reassemble, they reconstrut: thay are unsure like eBay!!!!!!
Everybody do the same, it's just for make money.
Sorry for my bad english!
Regards
