: Would it make you feel any better if the Swatch
: Group relabled the ETA factory as Omega?
That wasn't my point. ETA makes movements that are used by many watch companies, not just Omega. ETA and Omega are separate entities both under the Swatch Group "umbrella".
: It's labeled as Omega caliber 1120, since that
: particular movement configuration (with
: mods, etc,) is exclusive to Omega.
Right, but isn't it correct to say that ETA makes the entire movement FOR Omega? I know it's a play on words, perhaps, but 1120 is not a movement made by Omega, it is actually made by ETA based on Omega's specifications, right? The same timezone.com thread indicated that ETA does the same thing for other companies, so is ETA really an independent contractor, making movements for other companies to pass off as their own? If Omega does not manufacture the movement or at least do the modifications in-house, then really they aren't Omega manufactured movements. To be fair, I don't mean to imply that Omega is the only company that is doing this, but it just gives the purchaser of the watch somewhat misleading information.
