: The Haut qualities of a watch are rather
: meaningless in this day and age when a 12$
: quartz watch from the drug store can keep
: time just as well or better than any
: mecanical movement. Haut qualites are
: especially meaningless when we are talking
: watches that just have the time and date. If
: we were talking grand comps or repeaters
: there might be something to it.
: I like my Omegas. I think Rolex makes nice
: watches too. Although because they are so
: well known they stand out as a bit to much
: Tony Soprano style bling.
: Ether way these days watches are just jewelery.
: Pretty little things to look at and spend
: maybe even waist your money on. Mens
: jewelery tells time, Women's sparkles same
: difference.
I beg to differ, these watches are NOT just jewelrly. Adn saying that a $12 quartz is more accurate than many or all mechanicals is simply NUTS!. In case you wanted to know, my Omega SMP keeps better time than my ATOMIC WALL clock that is often +3sec/day even though it is supposed to synchronize with the offcial atomic time--my SMP runs only +1sec/day!!
