I think I'm understanding the "Seismic" part of you, Sam.

Just to be clear, the price I gave in my example was 66% "OF" MSRP, not "OFF" MSRP, according to my math. Second, the implications of your service statements seem to be that NO ONE can repair a watch. So, if 8 months from now my 2541.80, still under warranty, comes up w/ a problem, my AD sure as heck isn't going to replace it w/ a new one. Um, he's going to send me to a service center that Omega Ltd. has certified, correct? That's what "authorized" means to me: Authorized by Omega (and noted as such).

Then, you say, that service center takes my money, does work no better than the local Mayberry fix-it place, and sends it back -- merely so that it can die another day (no pun intended)?

Passions clearly run strong on this, it seems to me. And from that point of view, maybe none of those so positioned (a) purchase used cars, (b) maintain functioning antiques, and (c) use anything beyond the softward that comes packaged w/ their computers....

However far out you may feel I am (holding onto whatever part of my body that may involve), I'm confident that I'm alone. Gray markets could not exist w/out a lot of people looking the other way. New watches would sell at far higher prices if people had no way of selling their older models to offset the price of new ones. People who start out w/ "used" will hopefully be so impressed that they, too, will want to trade up. And I, for one, would like to think my watch so reliable that it's second half-life (if that may come) will be of great value to someone else.

My questions were intended to help people make intelligent economic decisions based on factual information, as opposed to "just because." I know that it would have been very much appreciated by me if it had been there early in my purchasing considerations. Heck, if my own AD would have presented me w/ what I laid out here initially, I would have been influenced by it: Fact, as opposed to some defensive "fear" thing put out by a dealer fearful of losing a sale.

As legitimate Omega watch owners (myself now among you/us), we all benefit from having a respectful dialogue on this issue, I believe.
