: Hi! My lawyer just got a beautiful black dial
: Omega Aqua Terra Seamaster Coaxial Automatic
: 150M watch. I was admiring the watch and the
: see through back, but my lawyer complained
: that he had one problem with the watch.
: Although its power reserve was stated to be
: 44 hours, it tended to stop after only 24
: hours of use, thus forcing my lawyer to wear
: the watch every day. He can't even get a
: break to wear his Rolex once in a while. The
: watch is very new and bought in Singapore as
: a present from his wife. Does any one have
: any advice on this problem? I adviced my
: lawyer to let the watch rest after having
: worn it everyday for several days and find
: out when it stops, then return it to the
: Singapore shop or authorized Omega service
: center and count on the warranty if he finds
: the power reserve to be significantly below
: 44 hours. Incidentally, my lawyer is a very
: active person as active as a professional
: could be that is. Any advice appreciated.
: Thanks.
I would first make absolutely sure the watch is fully wound. You can tell it is fully wound when you hear a clicking noise as you wind the crown (holding the watch close to your ear). This is the overwind protection mechanism kicking in, indicating the watch is fully wound and should have 44 hours of power reserve EVEN IF LEFT UNWORN. 24 hours is totally unacceptable, especially if the watch is being kept wound from simply being worn each day. The watch needs service if this is the case. If the watch was purchased from an authorized dealer, it is covered under warranty anywhere in the world if it is less than 3 years old. If not, any authorized Omega service center will repair it, but your friend will pay 100% of the cost.
