Hi Paul,
Before buying my SMP Chronograph this year I did some searching on the web to find out the effect of shooting recoil on an automatic watch.
I did a search on this forum with the keyword "shooting" going back 6 years. I found a lot of folks that said they hadn't had a problem. Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun shooters alike have all posted experiences I found useful. I recommend doing the same search and reading these posts. (click on the "search" link at the top of the Message Index of the forum.)
I also found an Omega FAQ on www.timezone.com where they discuss: "Active activities and Mechanical Watches, which are suitable? "
You should also check that out.
After searching the web for a couple weeks I figured I'd try it out.... I've had an SMP Chronograph on my wrist while skeet shooting with my 12 Gauge Over/Under since May. I also mountain bike a couple hours a week, and there's some pretty good shock with that sport also. So far, so good. It's still holding steady at +2 seconds a day.
Hope this helps.
