The two things that allowed Omega two wins with the speedy was:
-a very solid case and highly resisting to shock plexiglass
-a legendary movement which established its superiority by proving its great robustness, accuracy, reliability and smoothness: the 321. The valjoux 72,725,730,23,230,88,92 were pieces of crap as compared to it.The venus 178 was better than the valjoux but it didn't have the criteria to match and be compared with lemania
The speedies won easily gainst the most prestigious rivals including the Daytona 6238.
The speedy is not without reason a great watch and even with a 1861 which is the best cam oeprated top of the range handwound movement, the speedy is still the best.
