To cite what I have confirming Digger-D's post, pages 31-32 of my SMP Instructions states that the COSC specification is -4/+6 s/day. Omega says its specification is -1/+6 s/day -- and that "the majority of watches that do not have a chronometer statement have average precision tolerances of between -1 and +11 seconds per day."
The day I bought my current 2531.80 (10/6/05), I immediately set it to the USNO atomic clock at 2:10 pm EDT and began tracking its accuracy. I allowed myself a -/+0.25 second margin of error for baseline. The WORST swing at any point over the last 11 days has been +1.88 seconds.
I wear the watch 24 hours a day, except to shower; moderately active. I check it around 9:00am, 2:00pm, and 9:30pm. Here is the data I have so far, by day.
Day #01....+1.24....+1.75....+1.52
Day #02....+1.06.................+1.30
Day #03..............................+1.36
Day #04....+1.29.................+1.36
Day #05....+1.07....+1.20....+1.22
Day #06....+1.02....+1.12....+1.08
Day #07....+1.00....+1.03....+1.10
Day #08....+0.82....+1.04....+1.00
Day #09....+0.76....+0.84....+0.89
Day #10....+0.84.................+0.87
Day #11...............................+0.84
Just to be clear, these are time-of-day to time-of-day comparisons, meaning that, for example, Day #08 did not gain a "total" of 2.86 seconds (yikes!). Rather, all "morning" gains range from a high of +1.29 to a low of +0.84 s/d; all mid-days, +1.20 to +0.84 s/d; and, evenings, +1.52 to +0.87 s/d.
Always w/in both COSC and the more strict Omega standards.
Hope this helps ... or at least is of interest.
