Caliber 3303 is a completely different animal
: than Caliber 1861/1863. It's Automatic, a
: Certified Chronometer, has a Free Sprung
: Balance and Column Wheel Chronograph
: mechanism (as did the Cal 321). IMHO, it's a
: better movement, but I'm sure others will
: argue with me about it. Cal 33xx is a F.
: Piquet movement, while Cal 186x is a Lemania
: movement. Cal 186x is a 50 year old design,
: Cal 33xx is a 4 or 5 year old design.
The lemania 1873 claibre on which based the Omega 186x was concepted in 1967 and started to be intoruced on speedies in late 1968. The 321 was introduced in 1948 and it was a derivative of the calibre ch 27 chrono c12 introduced in 1942. The 321 is still produced but it is known as calibre lemania 2320 and only Vacheron Constantin, Breguet and Roger Dubuis use it for their very high end chronos. The 321 is no longer produced which makes it defacto more collectable than a 33xx speedy plus the 321 has never known resetting chrono problems as compared to the 33xx.The lemania 2320 has now 21 jewels, swan neck regulation and rhodium plated finish.
