Some of the omega movements have magnetic and dust shields. This must be removed in order to see the movement through a display back. So you lose these assets. Some sized display backs are available from omega I understand, and display backs can be made from an existing caseback by a watchsmith.
The thickness is the same as the existing caseback. I would like to have a display back for my speedmaster triple date, but omega doesn't make one, and I don't really want to pay for a watchsmith to make one so I go without.
I would do it if one was available from omega.
