Priorities
In Response To: How To Get A Moderator???? ()

This site has been an incredible technical and research resource for me, and I often wonder if I've said often enough how much I appreciate how generous so many of you are w/ your time and expertise.

If I may give something back now -- my experience is in marketing, and I'd like to contribute to this discussion from that perspective. The ultimate driver for Chronocentric will be in your Forums, so the Moderator question seems to me to be a very important one in terms of priorities.

Those of us who know and love it here may well be able to dismiss annoying SPAM here or there. But I'd hate to see us lose the new person who really needs your expertise in sorting fact from fiction, appreciating the value of ADs and authorized service centers -- and all from a truly objective source. But if you're an expert and you're eMailed SPAM comments (ie, copied from Forum posts as alerts) simply because you were kind enough to help someone out w/ a question, well, that might be a quick way to drive our best contributors away.

I think I came in via the common route of one of the more fixed pages (in my case, the 007 Connection). But the real stickiness and return value for me was here, in the Forum area.

That also means that unregulated, inappropriate material has its best chance of runnig things into the ground if it's allowed to take root, unchecked ... here.

So if resources are tight and priorities needing to be set, I would respectfully suggest that John has raised a most important question and, by implication, focused us on the right thing here.

For right or for wrong, "brands" are never static. They are always rising or falling. So I would not want to lose valuable new blood here to unregulated posts. It also seems that folks who are asking questions are also willing to put their time into helping, so maybe questions of "this" versus "that," and "which to do first?" need less to be a problem.

Thanks, John, as always, for raising this very important concern.
