Well, Omegas are kind of expensive watches so I don't think cost should enter into the auto vs. quartz argument. IMHO, if you're going to spend the dollars to get an Omega, you might as well get the mechanical. If you want to save money or like the characteristics of a quartz watch, you can get a really good non-Omega quartz watch for much less.
Mechanicals, aside from periodic servicing, generally require more fussing over. So you have to pay the money and fuss over it, or get a cheaper fussless quartz watch.
Just my own very personal opinion. Not trying to start an argument -- watches are like life, too fascinating to have much of an argument about...
