Re: New Omega with a 5 Year Old Movement.

: Hi guys.

: In the last month I purchased my first Omega
: Seamaster Professional Model 2231.50.00.

: Using Information on this web I requested my
: COSC certificate and was advised my Movement
: had sat in stock before being used in
: manufacture for four years. They only keep
: the certificates for five and I am out of
: luck.

: They have offered to replace it with an
: identical model, but i was wondering if
: sitting around for that length of time would
: be detrimental to the movement?

: To tell the truth, I expected a little better
: from such a Swiss watch company.

: Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, I think Omega is doing a great thing by offering to give you a brand new, latest production model to replace your older one. To me, that's great customer service.

Though there's probably nothing wrong with the watch you have, why not take them up on their offer and get a latest production watch for which you can get a free COSC certificate? What do you have to lose? It sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Good luck,
John
