In Response To: omega or tag ()

: Hi all

: Dont know witch watch to buy the Tag Carrera
: cv2113.fc6182 or the Omega Speedmaster
: 3813.30.01 thoughts please with thanks mark

Were it me, neither... Personally, for the most part, I've never carred for the Valjoux 7750 powered Omega Speedmasters... There is just something cheezy about the styling save for the Split-Second and DDM (Day-Date-Month) models.

Then a again, I've never been a big fan of the ETA/Dubois-Depraz module/piggyback chronograph.

It's the evil of two lessors...

Personally I'd look into vintage or recently discontinued models. The TAG-Heuer Re-Edition with the Lemania 1873 rocked. I'd take any model of that run over either of these two (even both of these two).

And I wouldn't take anyone here's word for one brand's superiority in terms of finish and fit. See it for yourself. Personally, I believe that depending upon the model in question at worse a comparably priced TAG will be of comparatively priced Omega. True Omega has some very pricy models, and TAG hasn't abandoned the low end of the market. Visit a dealer that carries both and compare them side by side on your own. Form your own opinion.

Personally, advice to you is to read up on the movement's within your candidate watches then light out to an authorized dealer of both brands and form some opinons...

Good Hunting!

Chuck
