Re: Year Of Manufacture
In Response To: Year Of Manufacture ()

: I am sure this is one of the most commonly
: asked questions on this, or any other watch
: forum. I just bought a previously owned
: Omega 300M GMT. Ser No 800XXXXX
: Case No 168 1613. It has an 1128 movement. The
: serial number on the movement matches the
: one on the case lug. I am trying to
: ascertain the year my watch was
: manufactured. Omega responded to my query
: with “Unfortunately, we are not allowed to
: communicate any manufacture dates”. Any
: ideas?

Well, if you have an authorized dealer stamped and dated warranty card, or a copy of the seller's original sales receipt, you could e-mail Omega and ask for a copy of the COSC certificate. If the watch is less than 5 years old, the certificate is still available. The date listed on the certificate will at least give you an approximate idea as to when the watch was manufactured. The certificate itself really only reflects when the movement was tested, though, so final assembly of the watch may have been quite a bit later if the movement sat around for a while before it was put into a case.

It's totally free to get a COSC certificte - just e-mail aftersales@omega.ch with a scan of the warranty card or sales receipt. The certificate will be sent to you from Omega Headquarters at no charge. It usually takes a few weeks for it to arrive in the US.
