Re: Omega 1538 / Seamaster 300 M Quartz

: Hi there, I recently had bought a SecondHand
: "Omega 1538 / Seamaster 300 M Quartz"

: Today is my 2nd day with the watch and I am
: still
: wondering if my watch is Original or not.

: What i had done till today:...
: - Call up Omega Authorize Dealer and refrence
: check the printed Serial number. (Proven
: Original)
: - Check with Omega website for the image
: comparision. (seem the same)
: - Wear the watch into a swimming pool. 3 meters
: (Proven Waterproof)

: But then Some of the thing which I notice is...
: - I have an additional emboss STAR at the back
: of my watch. The emboss is the same type as
: the serial number, lasered. But the location
: is at 5 O'clock, (Serial at 7 O'clock).
: [FYI] the star is made out of a 5_2mm
: Sticks-like... Pointing downwards to each
: other (exactly if u have 5 stick pooking
: them all downwards an orange, then leaving
: the stick in tact, u remove the organge,
: what left of it... is there on the back of
: my watch)and looking generally it reassemble
: the shape of a Star.... (IS THIS NORMAL?)
: - I notive the Omega website said the crystal
: is made up of 'Domed anti-reflective'
: material. (How can I check?, as when I
: reflect it with my neon-light, it still seem
: to reflect...)
: - The picture of the Omega @
: http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=283 ... It
: seem that my wheel colour (Rotation-Circle
: on the watch) is lighter that the one one
: the website... My is light blue... Omega
: website is Dark Blue... But the rest is the
: same... (Would it be something wrong?)

: I would really appriciate your expertise
: oppioions =) ... really really
: appriciated.... Thanks

I see NOTHING to indicate that your watch is a fake. I can tell you that if Omega verified its authenticity, and if you have the laser etched serial number on the back of your watch that matches the serial number on your warranty card, you are fine. Even if you have no warranty card (second hand watch purchase), the fact that you do have a valid serial number engraved on the back at the proper position (7 o'clock lug) tells me it's genuine. Also, having the star on your caseback is further proof the watch is not a fake. Omega puts these on some of their more popular models, like yours. We aren't sure if it's done to prevent counterfeiting or as a quality control device, but the fact that it's there further reassures me that your watch is genuine.

As to the color of the dial and bezel, you can never go by what's on Omega's website. Their dial colors can look quite different on the website than they do in person. I have noticed this on many watches. However, your dial or bezel should not be "light blue", they should be a dark shade of royal blue. If you are uncertain, post some pictures and we'll take a look, or e-mail them to me directly if you can't post them here.
