: I would like to purchase a 007 Seamaster
: Limited Edition, but have come to realize,
: perhaps the hard way, that there are
: hundreds of people hawking counterfeits of
: this model (I can't call them replica's as
: that gives them too much credibility) . Is
: there anyplace one can go to find photos of
: an authentic "007" to use as a
: comparison to weed out the couterfeits. I
: will not make any purchase unless seller
: agrees to allow third party verification of
: autheticity. I am shocked at the number of
: conterfeit Seamasters listed in on-line
: auction sites. Any other suggestions out
: there as to how to go about properly
: purchasing a preowned Omega Seamaster. Can
: be rather difficult for the uninitiated to
: to survive the maze of out and out con
: artists whose only desire is to seperate one
: from his hard earned money. Thanks for any
: assistance one can give!
The 007 Limited Edition is copied A LOT... And since it's a limited produced watch, I don't think you can find any in an authorized dealer's hands. As you may know, an AD is the only sure way you can get a true authentic watch.
I don't have any pics of the 007 watch, but I know its has metal framed indices and '007' printed throughout the dial instead of the usual famous seamaster waves. The watch also has '007' and a view from a gun barrel embossed on the back. The serial number should be *****/10007. The clasp also has '007' engraved on it.
If you can even find a dealer with a 007 watch, then try to post pics on this site.... There are some knowledgeable people on Chronocentric, and will be more than willing to help you out. Maybe you might get lucky and get a referal to a reputable dealer with the watch you're looking for.
Here's a picture of a FAKE, but as you can see, it is a very good one... So be careful out there!
