Hey Dave, it is comforting to know that I am not

Alone, also I don't want to limit it to the TZ Rolex community, rather most Rolex fora with very few exceptions (TURF being the shining star)...seems as if Rolex owners never want to discuss anything about their watches from an objective standpoint, if you don't like their product then you should leave is their mentality...wheras with other forums generally enthusiasts realize the shortcommings and are open to discussion on how the brand can improve.

I think while Rolex makes an ok watch there is a great deal of room for improvement on all fronts from an enthusiasts POV. Their company at least in the US could be more accomodating, their product could be better finished, and their dealers could be trained a bit better..for what people pay and what their advertising suggests this is the least I would expect.

With Omega I generally feel the price is about right, if not better than ok as their models now are getting classic styling with overall durability and technical prowess.

The company is ok to deal with, if you don't like the US you can always send it back to the HQ...something Rolex won't even entertain, and if you get so many horrible service experiences in a row Omega will give you a new piece, good luck with that and Rolex, even though they make close to a million a year they treat each as if they are limited production.

And as you mentioned the community...at least the omaga enthusiasts are open to other brand and don't talk down people because they like said brands...it is rather sad seeing the Rolex folk complain and talk down other brands as often as they do, especially when Rolex's product isn't all that great...honestly I feel the community is one reason why I no longer want to be a Rolex owner.

Oh well hopefully I can come to terms with the loss or at least decide something, the one thing I do know is that I most likely won't be contributing on any other Rolex forums in the near or distant future.
