Seeing as you dive, it really doesn't make any sense to consider a Speedy at all. You NEED the best water resistance you can buy.
Apart from that, I think Dell is right on the money. If TSHTF, what are you going to want to depend on? A watch that's completely bulletproof. I needed a stopwatch feature, so I got that kind of Seamaster instead, and in addition I went for the ultimate bombproof watch material, which is Titanium. Much lighter than SS, much higher tensile strength, absolutely corrosion imprevious, and the metal surface is somewhat "self healing" because Ti has a very tough outer oxide layer. Scrape some off, and the bare metal will re-oxidize.
The stuff ain't cheap, but it's tougher than nails, and also very cool looking in a world filled with SS watches, and also VERY uncommon.
BTW, I went in to THE watch store in St. Thomas last month, and finally got to see (and hear) a minute repeater. They also had FP Journe watches, which was the first I have seen of those. The repeater (can't remember the name) actually had an ANIMATED figure on the face striking a bell with a hammer when the chime function ran. Price? 295K!! I told them I was really hard on watches, and would stick with my Ti SeMP.
