: Hi Sl.
: you wrote.... it's yellow with a yellow
: leather band, chronograph with a black bezel
: that has "tachymeter" on it.
:
: It sounds like you have one of these...
:
:
:
: If so, this uses the 1141 movement. Omega have
: sold a LOT of these watches & movements
: ( the watch is available in various
: different colours ranging from red, yellow,
: blue, plain black & various two-tone
: models in silver/gold etc etc )
: From what you describe the movement is NOT
: behaving normally. ( As John Rochowicz said
: )
: I would expect a power reserve of around 40
: hours. I'm not sure where you have had it
: repaired ( I think you said Omega, but that
: could be your local dealer, or Omega HQ in
: the USA, or Omega in Switzerland ), but it
: doesn't sound like they've done a good job
: on fixing your problem.
: If you have receipts for your work & it
: wasn't too long ago, why not write to Omega
: in Switzerland, describing your problem
: & ask them what they suggest.
: I'd try to word it in a positive but firm
: manner & not get aggressive or
: insulting. ( but, reading your posts, I'm
: sure you wouldn't get aggressive :-) )
: IMHO paying for the "same repair" 3
: times is NOT ok.
: I hear lots of good things about Omega
: Switzerland, they may be able to help you. I
: would for example ask for a free check &
: if needed free repair. They may suggest
: sending the watch to Switzerland, if so,
: don't be worried /scared. A few of , here
: have done that. We can give you some
: tips/hints on how to do this . It takes a
: bit longer but is worth the wait.
: Whatever you do/decide/try, please let us know.
: All the Best

: Steve you are a life saver!! That is my watch exactly. I got it about 6 years ago (when it first came out, from an authorized Omega dealer. I would wear it all day and take it off at night and everything was fine until about 3 years ago when it would stop running even when I wore it regularly. I had not worn the watch for about 2 years and recently had our jeweler send it for cleaning and repair. He said he sent it to Omega (and it did take several weeks). After getting the watch back about 3 months ago it worked fine for a couple of days then stopped - same old problem. I sent it back - they checked it out again and had it on a winder and said the watch ran perfectly. The repairs are under warranty so I havent had to pay for each service call but this is so frustrating. Two nights ago I wound the watch 40 times and let it sit on the table. It stopped 17 hours later. I thought after winding (even without wearing it) that the watch should run for 40 hours. I am trying again today - wound the watch this morning and I am wearing it all day (perhaps I'm not wearing it enough - but I doubt it) - is it safe to wind it everyday? If (when!) it stops again I will take your suggestion and contacy Omega Swiss directly. I love this watch but I've been late for work twice now!
Thanks again for all your help - Kelly
